The Venue

The networking hour and banquet on Friday evening will be at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens Restaurant, located at 6461 Transit Road, Lancaster, NY. All other conference events are in Davis Hall and Ketter Hall at the University at Buffalo’s North (Amherst) Campus. For directions to the campus, click here. Parking

On Friday, you may park in any lot without a permit after 3:00 PM. If you arrive between 2:00 and 3:00, you may park in the Bookstore parking lot, which is close to Davis Hall. If you arrive between 1:00 and 2:00 you may park in the Fronczak (Visitor) Lot for $3. After 3:00 on Friday and all day on Saturday, you may park anywhere. Suggested lots closest to Davis Hall are Furnas and Jarvis B lots.

All events except for the networking hour and banquet on Friday are held at the University at Buffalo. Poster judging will take place on Saturday. Poster presenters do not need to have their poster setup on Friday to be eligible for an award.

Conference Hightlights

 

Acccreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Panel
This year’s conference will include an ABET/CAB Panel. The panel will consist of Charles Hickman, Chief Constituent Relations Officer and several evaluators from both ABET who will talk about the accredition process and the future direction the accreditation process. Conference attendies will have an opportunity to interact with the panel with a question and answer session.
Tour of the Structural Engineering & Earthquake Simulation Laboratory at the University at Buffalo
The Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) at the University at Buffalo is the premier facility for earthquake-engineering experimentation in the United States, supporting agency and industry-sponsored research in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at the University, and services for a wide range of industry clients. The facility includes two high-performance earthquake simulators, a geotechnical laminar box, hybrid-simulation capabilities, and a wide range of high capacity actuators. Professor Andrew Whittaker, a licensed structural engineer in the State of California, will lead the tour and describe the capabilties of the Laboratory.
Banquet

 

The banquet will be held at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens Restaurant, located at 6461 Transit Road, Lancaster, NY. The networking hour will take aplace from 6:00 until 7:00 and the banquet will start at 7:00.
Banquet Speaker
Monica Pellegrino FAix, AICP, is the Executive Director for the Richardson Ohmsted Complex. Since 2007 she has worked with the not for profit board overseeing the reuse and rehabilitation of this National Historic Landmark in Buffalo, NY. Monica holds a Masters of Urban Planning degree from the University at Buffalo. Monical will present on her insights, challenges, and construction on the rehabilitation of this Buffalo treasure.
Conference Hotel

 

The conference hotel is the Salvatore’s Garden Place Hotel located at 6615 Transit Road, Williamswille, NY 14221. ASEE/NYSETA has blocked rooms with special rates for Friday evening, April 21st. The special rates are in effect through March 31st. Check in is at 3:00 PM with an 11:00 check out time. There are several amenities including a complimentary hot breakfast, complimentary parking, and a complimentary shuttle service (0.5 miles) to and from the banquet facility.
